Toulouse FC lost and historic 5-1 to FC Nantes in the final of the Coupe de France, Saturday evening in Saint-Denis. The Violets will have the pleasure of playing in the Europa League next season.
A year (almost to the day) after ensuring his comeback in Ligue 1, the FC Toulouse, from a president Damien Comolli to the modern insurance project, won the Coupe de France on Saturday in Saint-Denis. The Violets are so widely imposed against the FC Nantes, the title holders, on the final score of 5-1. A coronation which obviously allows them to qualify for the next Europa League!

This is the second time that Téfécé has lifted this trophy in its history #FCNTFC…— beIN SPORTS (@beinsports_FR) April 29, 2023
Téf, a much better team than FCN in Ligue 1 (12th against 16th), left their opponents virtually no chance, leading 2-0 from the start of the match. On two set pieces, the central defense of Logan Costa, replaced in the league, scored twice with a header (4th, 10th). A brilliant story for a native of… Saint-Denis!
4-0 at halftime!
The Haut-Garonne festival continued in the first period with another double, that of Thijs Dallinga, who converted a sublime opening from Gabriel Suazo (23rd) before taking advantage of an error from Alban Lafont (31st). Never had a team led 4-0 at the break! Terrible for the Canaries, who could not count on a goalkeeper who saves them almost every game.
In the second half (in a match unmarked by the protest movement against the pension reform, even in the 49th minute), Ludovic Blas saved the honor from the penalty spot, after a foul on Fabien Centonze (75th). But, in the process, Zakaria Aboukhlal drew the delirious Toulouse public (79th).
The yellow and green people had capsized a year ago against Nice, this time it is the TFC supporters who will remember this superb Coupe de France final. A 5-1 victory and a European qualification without going through the qualifications as in the rout against Liverpool in 2007.
