While Igor Tudor confirmed his departure on Thursday, Marseille is looking for a new coach. Bad news for PSG, it’s Marcelo Gallardo.
This summer, Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille have at least one thing in common: the two clubs are looking for a new coach. The mission has already begun for the Parisian club which wants to turn the page on Christophe Galtier and which has put several names on paper. Thiago Motta, José Mourinho, Luis Enrique or even Marcelo Gallardo are thus in the sights. For the latter, PSG should have a competitor straight from Ligue 1 since OM would have placed the Argentinian at the top of their list.
According to an indiscretion of (Site notre bureau spécialisé) market unveiled Thursday, Pablo Longoria would like to largely succeed in convincing the former River Plate tactician to join Canebière and thus succeed other Argentinians like Marcelo Bielsa and Jorge Sampaoli. Without a club since last December and the end of his contract with River, Marcelo Gallardo is therefore an extremely busy coach in Ligue 1. It remains to be seen whether he will really want to return to the French championship and if so, whether Marseille will try it more than Paris.
big challenge
Player of Monaco then PSG (for a year), the forty-seven-year-old man will have the time and the leisure to weigh the pros and cons and to listen to the arguments of us and others. For his part, the president of OM, Pablo Longoria, will have a lot to do to succeed in convincing the one he absolutely wants to bring in to succeed Igor Tudor. Third in Ligue 1, Marseille is indeed not guaranteed to reach the final table of a Champions League which it will have to pass the play-offs this summer. Will Marcelo Gallardo want to take up the challenge? Doubt remains for the time being.
