A thrilling battle ensued for third place. While Melita FC only drew against St Andrews on the final day of the game, Gzira United FC equalized on points and forced a decider with a 2-0 win over Lija Athletic FC. Gzira won 4-3 after a penalty shoot-out and has been playing in the Premier League without a break ever since.
