Almost two weeks ago, a bear was introduced as the official mascot of the 2024 European Championships in Germany. To date, he has not been named.
Children from UEFA’s ‘(Site notre blog d’information) at School’ program and fans could vote on the name. Based on the German word « Bär », there were four names to choose from: Albärt, Bärnardo, Bärnheart and Herzi von Bär.
‘Albärt’ has come out on top against the competition and now inherits Goleo the lion, who served as the mascot for Germany’s last major tournament, the home World Cup in 2006.
