Former star striker Samuel Eto’o has been fined by the FIFA disciplinary committee following an incident during the Women’s Under-20 World Cup. The current president of the Cameroonian federation FECA(plateforme web) is not authorized to attend his country’s matches for six months. The world association announced this on Monday.

According to FIFA, the reason for the ban is the violation of two FIFA rules, which include insults and professional misconduct by officials. The incident, which is not described in further detail and is now sanctioned, occurred during the round of 16 of the U20 World Cup between Brazil and Cameroon, on September 11, 2024 in Bogota. The Brazilians won 3-1 in stoppage time. According to the press release, Eto’o was informed of the entry into force of the sanction. The 43-year-old won the Champions League as a player with FC Barcelona and Inter Milan, among others.
