At 37, Yacine Régragui puts away his playing boots to become a coach at Trèbes, in Regional 3.
What position did you play in when you started?
I started playing (Site notre bureau spécialisé) at the age of five in Alzonne. My first position was left midfielder. Then, he moved from the left-back position in CFA 2 to FAC to define the environment of the pitch in Trèbes.
What are you expecting for your last playing season on a sporting and human level?
It was a very complicated season psychologically and sportingly, despite all the talent of the group, it was not enough to stay in R2. When we go down, it’s never easy to experience that, now we turn the page and we try to write a new story all together in R3.
You are taking a training diploma this year…
Alongside the first season as a senior coach, I was admitted to the BMF course in Castelmaurou, and I also had several additional stages during the long season, with final certifications and additional projects in terms of time. This year, the president of Trèbes, Jean-Louis Sié, gave me the opportunity to join the BMF club and to remember it.
Tell us about your first season as a coach at Trèbes in R3…
For my first season, it was a lot of apprehension at the start, but all the while remaining lucid about what we were going to do. I learn a little every day. The first choice was important, it was made by a team which worked together and was very respectful. Geoffrey, Yannis, Jeff and Ali each bring their knowledge and everyone has a well-defined role within the group. Then we make decisions based on what is best for our group.
What is the purpose of Trèbes this year?
The real objective is to make the players want to have fun again, to produce games during training sessions and matches! If the group joins, the results will follow.
