Florian Wirtz serves his yellow lock in a painful way. Bayer Star, who was violated for the first stage in the quarter -final of the German national team in the League of Nations against Italy, is missing. For national coach Julian Nagelsmann, UEFA regulations can still become a huge problem this week.

Five of his players from the current team go to the first match against Squadra Azzurra on Thursday (8:45 p.m. Ard) in Milan with one or even three warnings. The result: in the event of another yellow card, the national coach must do without the player in question in the second decisive step next Sunday (8:45 p.m./RTL) in Dortmund.

In addition, almost all of German defense is affected. Captain Joshua Kimmich, Antonio Rüdiger, David Raum and the defensive midfielder Robert Andrich are pre-contaminated with a yellow card. The defender of the interior of BVB Nico Schlotterbeck even saw the yellow three times in the current competition and should look in the group phase with another warning against Bosnia and Herzegovina (7-0). His colleague from Dortmund, Waldemar Anton, was warned once, but this time was not nominated by Nagelsmann.

The UEFA rules for the League of Nations are clear: there is a break after two yellow cards each. Warnings are only deleted after matches in the quarter -final. No player can miss the semi-finals or the final during the Final Four tournament in June because of the yellow cards.

Retrospectively, Jonathan Tah’s yellow card in the group match against Bosnia and Herzegovina (7-0) in November is cheap. The Leverkusener has missed the sports and insignificant game in Hungary (1: 1) because of its second warning and can now afford to be a third possible warning against Italy without consequences. In addition to the newcomer Yann Bisseck from Inter Milan, he is the only central defender not significantly preloaded Nagelsmann.
