Bayer in 2nd place in season ticket rankings – Carro: “The stadium has become too small”

Bayer Leverkusen have seen a drop in season tickets during the league season. While there were 19,500 season tickets in the first half of the 2023/24 season, that number rose to 21,400 in the second half of the season. There are as many this season as well, meaning the BayArena will be filled to 70.9% by season ticket holders.

Bayer boss Fernando Carro told « Bild »: « The only regret about this sensational development is that we can no longer meet the wishes of our fans to the same extent as before. The stadium has become too small. We have become a bigger club and in some places we will all still have to get used to it. Building a new stadium will be difficult for the time being in Leverkusen. In Freiburg, that is already behind us. The sports club’s Europa Park stadium was inaugurated in October 2021 and will be visited by season ticket holders 72 percent of the time in the 2024/25 season, a league record.
