The list of promising talents, which were exposed to high expectations very early and could not resist it, is long – if Youssoufa Moukoko will one day belong. The development of the 20 -year -old is anything but simple, in Copenhagen, a new phase of his still young career started in front of a monast. The result is uncertain, our guest author Andreas Cornelsen describes the impressions of the first weeks on the site.
At the end of June, Copenhagen’s sports director, Sun Smith-Nielsen, spoke of a « very exciting transfer » as part of the announcement of the 5 million euros Moukoko agreement and delighted about the youngest participant in the German World Cup as « hungry and with a high technical level ». However, the first weeks for Moukoko were also reserved for a new start, because the young person was not received everywhere in the region of FC Copenhagen.
The Danish specialized press – especially « Tipbladet » – was initially skeptical. French journalist Patrick Juillard was critical of several times for the third tax transfer in the history of the club in the report of the newcomer. Juillard had not been tolerated with Moukoko in the past year and during the unsuccessful loan activity at the OGC Nice. Doubts as to its coherence and its mentality also stood in the room in Denmark – without surprise, if we consider the frequency at which the careers of young talents were blocked precisely at these points.
A good loan was a disappointment for the old talent of BVB Moukoko
Moukoko himself had recently sporting the year in Nice as a break, but nevertheless commented as instructive: « I felt what it was to be at the top. I felt the same way of being down. It was really difficult. There were nights when I just in a hurry, I must be honest.
The old Dortmund also knows: each chapter begins at zero in the place. And there, Moukoko was able to define the first positive accents in the last days and weeks. The attacker played an eleventh start of the Super League outside against Viborg, but remained lucky. During the Champions League qualification match against KF Kosovo, he first sat on the bench, which can be interpreted as a clear sign that he must reproduce in terms of sport. But its substitution for the 58th minute was accompanied by fans with audible special applause – a first little advance of confidence by the stands.
What followed was a committed appearance: Moukoko brought energy, was immediately present in the game, just failed with a degree (60th) and prepared two higher class carpenters (65/77). The objective failed to materialize, but the rebirth of the attacking game was undoubtedly. In the end, the well -known cherry on the cake was missing, but not the will. Still in the following championship match against Vejle (2-0), there was a similar image: Moukoko obtained more playing time (80 minutes), acted again and prepared the 2-0 (26th). He still does not have the last consequence in the box, but the right path to the rhythm and the flow of the game seems to have had trouble.
Moukoko wants to start at FC Copenhagen
« It is important that we have won the first games, and of course, we want to win as many victories as possible, but there will also be adversity this season in which we have to stand together and look to the future, » said Moukoko in an interview published by FC Copenhagen on weekends and I added: « I personally feel that I make the way.
He feels « very good », the former Talent of the BVB continued and wanted to « increase the pace » step by step. The attacker is happy with « that the coaches trust me and have so much patience with me at the beginning ». From a sporting point of view, Moukoko now has important weeks. If Copenhagen insisted against the KF Drita rather of the third class as expected, in the next qualification round can not only wait with Malmö FF a sports opponent, but also an explosive duel with a derby character. Only the Öresund bridge separates the two clubs – geographically a neighborhood duel, atmospheric a European cup area.
Especially for a player like Moukoko, who has repeatedly stressed that he wanted to show what it is on a large scene, are exactly these game test stones. The crucial question remains: Moukoko uses the Copenhagen platform to get back on the right track in terms of sport, or does it join the list of those who have remained larger than yield? August will provide the first answers. He always brings the facilities with him – now he has to prove himself.
