It was a win Tottenham needed badly to get at this point in time as it was their first win at Wembley this season, their temporary home ground for the season. All thanks to Christian Eriksen whose goal was the difference on the day. Bournemouth were determined to get something from the match but it was not to be on the day.
The first half saw both sides struggle to create clear cut chances. Tottenham were closer to getting the lead as Harry Kane threatened the Bournemouth defence line. The first half ended in a barren draw. It didn’t take long after the break that Tottenham came to the party. It was their midfield mastero, Christian Eriksen who struck in the 47th minute. The Danish midfielder scored his third goal of the season in which was the only goal in the match. Eddie Howe side were left disappointed after conceding the goal as they were solid in most part of the game.
Harry Kane could have doubled the lead for Spurs but he fluffed his chances. This means that Spurs now have a four point gap over Chelsea at third on the log. Bournemouth however continue to wallow in the relegation waters as they seat 19th on the log after their fourth consecutive loss on the road.
The result did not reflect all the efforts made by Bournemouth in the game which has been the issue with Eddie Howe’s side which is a reason for where they are on the log. Harry Kane continue his search for his first goal at home in the league despite having six goals already this season.
Tottenham now will travel to Spain to meet current champion, Real Madrid in the champions league group stage on Tuesday.
